Sensations is Walkers’ posh sub brand that specialise in quality and above all else, flavour. They genuinely do taste better than their original brands but they do carry an extra cost. Sensations aren’t necessarily unhealthier either with the focus being on the marination and the flavour post cooking.
There are four main flavours of Walkers Sensations – balsamic vinegar and caramelised onion, hickory smoked cheddar & crispy bacon, thai sweet chilli and roasted chicken and thyme. They also come in two bag sizes – 25g multipack bags and 40g grab bags.
But, do the Sensations crisps come at a cost in terms of how many syns they’re worth? Well, we’ve done the numbers and have the definitive answer – let’s dive in.
Sensations Crisps Syn Values
- A 25g multipack bag of Sensations crisps contains 123 calories. This means a 25g bag of Sensations are worth 6.15 syns.
This puts them in a similar area as Sunbites, Snackrite, and Scampi Fries.
- A 40g bag of Sensations crisps contains 197 calories. This means a 40g bag of Sensations are worth 9.9 syns.
This bigger bag is similar in syns to Burton’s Fish ‘n’ Chips, Doritos and Monster Munch.
Based on this, Sensations syns per gram is 0.25. To find out how this stacks with other crisp brands read on.
Are Sensations worth the syns?
Sensations genuinely do taste better than most crisps, it has to be said. Syns are there for a treat, and depending on how much you have left Sensations are among the better tasting crips option and the number of syns in the multipack bag isn’t too bad. However, with a syns per gram ratio of 0.25 they are placed about average with a 52% synscore. This means there are better (and worse!) options out there with a better calorie/syn density.
Check out our league table for the full list.
However, with the use of some clever maths, sometimes you can opt for a bag of crisps with a much better ratio and end up with enough syns left to still have another bag or even a biscuit.
