How many syns are in Pringles?

Once you pop you can’t stop…unless you’ve run out of syns! Yes, it’s the nations favourite crisp packed tube, perfect for snacking, sharing and party bowls. Pringles are an American brand which brought these crisps over in the early 60s and they’ve remained a very firm favourite since. They’re shaped in such a way that they taste better (apparently) and they are rather thin making them seriously moreish.

The shape of the crisp is famous but perhaps they are most known for the tube container they come in. In this article we’re going to look at the small tube (40g) and the larger tube (200g) to see how many syns are in them and how they compared to all other crisps.

Pringles Syn Values

  • The 40g tube contains 210 calories. This means that the 40g tube of Pringles is worth 10.5 syns.

This is a rather large amount, similar to Eat Real Hummus, Kettle and Tyrrell’s. All of which are posher, fuller flavoured crisps.

  • The 200g tube contains 1,066 calories. This means a 200g Tube of Pringles is worth 53 syns.

There is 1-2 difference in calories between the flavours, which is not enough to change the syns as a syn is 20 calories.

What do these numbers mean? Are Pringles low in syns? How do Pringles compare with other crisps if they all weighed the same? Let’s find out.

Are Pringles worth the syns?

I love Pringles, I love how they taste and their satisfying crunch. If I am working with a syn allowance and have enough for a tube I would have them over most crisps. That’s the point of syns in the first place, to indulge and enjoy. For that reasons yes, they are worth it.

But for pragmatists who look at the stats then Pringles are not so good on the syns. They have a syns per gram of 0.26 which is on the highest end of the table along the likes of Walkers Classic, McCoy’s and Seabrook. Syns per gram looks how syn dense they are, the higher the number the calories.

This syns per gram ratio equates to a synScore of 73% and a SynRank of 25th out of 32 crisps. There are 24 other brands of crisps which are less calorie and syn dense as Pringles.
