Unbelievable flavour, fantastic crunch and a satisfying chew. The Daim bar (previously Dime) is one of my all time favourites – the crunch almond and caramel centre is unseen in any other bar as far as I know. It’s also quite short and sweet with bars typically being quite small even before the downsizing.
It’s a Swedish creation, made by Mondelez and one of the reasons why its pushed so hard in IKEA! Available as standard bars, minis and even as a cake!
Usually, the best chocolates are the worst in terms of calories and syns, but is it the case with the small Daim? And how does it compare to other chocolates you are considering? Let’s find out.
Daim Syn Values
A Daim bar weighs 28 grams and contains 150 calories. This means a single Daim bar is worth 7.5 syns, each. This value is actually one of the lowest in our table. A little more than a Flake (8.4) and less than a Milky Bar (6.8).
7.5 syns is not bad and is exactly 15 syns if you were to have two. However, our analysis doesn’t end there.
Is a Daim bar WORTH the syns? Considering it’s so small could you something bigger and still use the same? Read on to find out.
Is a Daim worth the syns?
If you have syns to burn and a Daim is your favourite then pay no mind. You’ve earned it. But, if you want to maximise your syns then take a look at our findings.
7.5 syns each seems quite small, and it is, because of its weight. When you divide the syns with its weight it is a different story. The ratio of syns per gram on a Daim is 0.27 and at the bottom end of the chocolate bar league table. This means that the calories are dense in a Dime. 0.27 is in the same ballpark as a Twirl, Yorkie and a Galaxy.
When comparing the syns per gram with the whole league table it scores 26%, which is not great at all. This means that it is 26% as efficient as the most efficient chocolate bar. It is slightly worse than a Dairy Milk (29%) but slightly better than an Aero (23%).
Sugar, Palm Oil, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Mass, Whey Powder (from Milk), Almonds (3%), Skimmed Milk Powder, Milk Fat, Modified Whey (from Milk), Sweetened Condensed Skimmed Milk, Salt, Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin), Flavourings, Milk Chocolate contains Milk Solids 14% minimum and Cocoa Solids 30% minimum.
